Talks for schools and colleges

The University of Bristol is proud to have teaching staff who are not only world leaders in their field but also deeply passionate about sharing their knowledge. Many of these academic staff are available to come to local schools and talk to students on a range of topics. These talks are absolutely free and we hope that they complement the national curriculum as well as giving extra insight into university study. All of the talks are pitched at an accessible level for school/college students and have been extremely popular with teachers and students alike.

If you are a teacher at a school within an hour’s drive of the University of Bristol and would like to book an academic to come to your school please look at the links below and return the enquiry form (word 36.5 Kb)

Please note that all talks are dependent on academic availability. As a result of funding restrictions, talks are free to local state schools; fee paying schools may be asked to cover the costs of academic time and travel.

As well as academic talks you can also contact us to request a visit to your school or college where we can give talks to students, staff and parents / carers on a variety of subjects including how to apply to university, choosing your course / institution, writing your personal statement, student funding and student life. We can tailor the talks to the areas that interest you. Please email schools-colleges-liaison@bristol.ac.uk with details of your enquiry.

Feedback

"The children have remembered much of the discussion and used this information for their predictions in their own investigations about bones. They were all excited and many shared the information with their parents/carers."
