About MEng Civil Engineering with Study Abroad

If you are creative, enjoy design and aspire to improve the built environment we live in, then civil engineering is for you. This degree will equip you to find solutions to environmental problems and to design large and unique structures, such as buildings, bridges, dams and coastal defences.

Our exchange programmes are a great opportunity to broaden your view of the world and experience a different culture. Students on this course have recently studied abroad in Australia, Canada, the USA, Hong Kong and Singapore. There is no direct entry onto the course but you can transfer from our other courses if you reach a high academic standard in your first two years. Your course of study overseas will mirror the third-year curriculum at Bristol.

Access to HE Diploma offerPass Access to HE Diploma (Engineering, Engineering Science, Maths and Engineering, Science, or Science and Engineering) with 30 credits at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit. At least 15 graded level 3 credits at Distinction in Mathematics and 12 graded level 3 credits at Distinction in another science subject. The Mathematics units taken should include study of calculus, algebra and trigonometry. Plus A in A-level Mathematics or achieving the required level in the University of Bristol Mathematics Test
BTEC offer D*DD in Engineering plus either A in A-level Mathematics or achieving the required level in the University of Bristol Mathematics Test
Scottish Qualifications Authority offerAdvanced Higher: AA in Mathematics and a science-related subject, and Standard Higher: AAAAA
Welsh Baccalaureate offerRequirements are as for A-levels where you can substitute a non-subject specific grade for the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate at that grade.
European Baccalaureate offer88% overall, with 9.0, 8.5 in Mathematics and a science-related subject (in any order)

Specified subjects

Where A-level Mathematics is not offered alongside this qualification, please see section 1.2 of the admissions statement.
Science-related subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, Geology and Geography.
