Parking at the University

Within this section we hope to answer any questions you may have relating to car parking; the car parking map, advice on applying for a parking permit, charges, parking rules (including civil car parking charges), ordering coupons, booking visitor parking, temporary contractor parking, student parking and much more.

Why does the University have a car parking scheme?

  • To cope with the demand for car parking exceeding supply.
  • To allocate the spaces that we have on the basis of need (and not seniority or status of individuals, or on a free for all basis that benefits early arrivals).
  • To ensure that the cost of parking is fair.
  • To encourage and assist staff in alternative means of transport to work other than their own private car.

Parking enforcement is carried out all year round from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday including out of term, the only time parking is not enforced is on University Closure days.
