4. I have applied for a permit but still haven't received one.

If you are a new member of staff, Security Services have to wait for all your information to be entered onto the PIMS database. We cannot issue a permit until this information is accessible. This can normally take up to 6 weeks; however you will be able to have a temporary permit until your details become available. Please email car-parking@bristol.ac.uk if this is the case.

You can buy them online or by calling Payroll on (0117) 92 88092.

6. I have applied for coupons but still haven't received them.

You will need to contact Finance Office Payroll as they are responsible for issuing permits. Please phone (0117) 92 88092

7. I have bought some coupons but no longer need them, can I get a refund?

Yes you can, as long as none of the days have been used (the coupon must be complete with no days scratched off).  For more information or to arrange a refund please contact Payroll on (0117) 92 88092.

8. Do I need to buy a new permit if I want to change from a category B permit to a A1 car sharing permit?

No, this is not necessary.

9. I have received a warning notice but I don't know why.  I believe I had displayed my permit correctly and parked in the appropriate bay.

It is common that mistakes are made when arriving early in the morning or when parking in a hurry. It could be that you did not scratch your coupon off, or that you mistakenly scratched off the wrong date. Please contact us and we will be able to advise you of why you received a warning. Warnings are issued mainly to prompt people to contact us so that we can help and assist you in obtaining the correct permit. In these situations we can only help you if you contact us.

10. Are students able to apply for a guaranteed car sharing parking space?

No, only members of salaried University staff can apply for a parking space. Students are permitted to join the scheme and look for someone to share their journey with, but they can not become a formal University car share team and apply for a parking space.

11. A disabled user will be visiting the department; can they park in a disabled bay providing they display their Blue Badge?

Disabled bays at the University are monitored by Security Services; each bay is allocated to a member of staff or student that has been through an application process which will entitle them to a disabled bay.  Blue Badges that belong to visitors or non registered users are not permissible as a permit.  We are, on most occasions, able to help with disabled parking for visitors, please inform us prior to the visitor arriving and give us their vehicle registration; we will then issue a temporary permit.  A cost of £2.50 for half a day or £5.00 for a full day will be charged to the department hosting the visitor.  Please contact Security Services should you have any questions.

If you require any further information, please contact Security Services (car-parking@bristol.ac.uk)
