Cycle Parking Available on the Main Campus (Precinct) (PDF, 33kB)

Information for satellite sites and halls of residence will be added in due course. In the meantime contact your building’s Facilities Manager to find your nearest locked cycle parking (staff only) and shower facilities.

Locked cycle sheds are currently for staff use only with the exception of The Richmond Building locked facility.

The University has a rolling cycle parking installation programme for all types of cycle parking (short stay hoops, sheltered and locked).

If you have suggestions of where new cycle parking could be installed, let us know.

Bicycles should not be parked where they could create a hazard or danger. The University has a policy for inappropriately parked bicycles which allows us to remove them without warning.

Showers are available in several of the University's buildings. A list of showers, their location and who may use them is below. Please note that this is a working progress and more will be added shortly. Please note this list does not include University Residential buildings.

Bike security

Unfortunately bike theft is Bristol is common. Use a good lock, park in an area with good natural surveillance, and don’t leave your bike parked for long periods of time.

Read how the University is improving bike security. We also recommend reading this information by Better by Bike on how to keep your bike safe.

The University sells bike locks and lights every four weeks during term time alongside the cycle clinic. These items can also be purchased at The Basket Shop in the Richmond Building during normal opening hours.

We also run regular Bike Register security marking events on the Precinct.

Bike maintenance

Take advantage of the regular Cycle Clinic sessions (free bike tune up) held by the University every two weeks. Advice on fixing and maintaining your bike is available on our bicycle maintenance page.

Cycle mileage allowance

Staff who cycle their own bicycle in the course of their work can claim a cycle mileage rate of 20p per mile.
