Remuneration Committee

The Remuneration Committee is responsible for overseeing the pay, benefits and conditions of employment of the Vice-Chancellor and other senior staff.

Terms of reference

The Remuneration Committee is one of the committees of the Board of Trustees.

It ensures that senior staff are appropriately rewarded in terms of their recruitment and retention through a process that adheres to CUC's 'The Higher Education Senior Staff Remuneration Code'.

Membership

As a group, the committee members are empowered to make decisions. They can take advice from others attending the meeting.

Members and roles

The Remuneration Committee has up to 5 members. The Chair of the Board of Trustees may not be the Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

  • Ms Gillian Bowen, Independent Trustee
  • Mr Stephen Robertson, Independent Trustee

Attendees

The following staff may attend meetings and offer advice to committee members:

  • Vice-Chancellor and President
  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost
  • Chief Operating Officer, Registrar and University Secretary
  • Chief Financial Officer
  • Chief People Officer

They do not have authority to make committee decisions and are not eligible to vote in meetings.

They may not be present when their own remuneration or performance is being discussed.
