University of Bristol and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international body which seeks:
"To lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web."
Its primary route for pursuing this goal is through the creation and development of Web standards and guidelines, and W3C has published more than 90 of these such standards since 1994.
