Professor David Barrett

Professor Barrett has over 20-years experience in teaching and assessing both undergraduates and postgraduates in farm animal veterinary medicine.  He was instrumental in major curricular developments in the BVMS programme at Glasgow including the introduction of ‘tracking’ and developed the University of Glasgow Veterinary Biosciences programme.  He has also significantly contributed to the new BVSc curriculum at Bristol.  He was central to the establishment of the European College of Bovine Health Management in 2003 and was president of the college 2005-2007.  He has also been a Director and Chairman of the Scottish CPD charity Vet Trust and a Director of the BCVA.  He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and held the post of Deputy Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching), University of Glasgow, 2007-11.

Professor Barrett has acted as an external examiner on a number of occasions for the RCVS, AVMA, University of Cambridge, University of Bristol, University of Dublin, University of Nottingham and the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
