Ed has a general interest in all aspects of naturally occurring gastrointestinal disease in dogs, with specific interests in the mucosal immune response to food and pathogens. His research has covered gluten-sensitive enteropathy in Irish setters, antibiotic-responsive diarrhoea and idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease.
