This widening participation initiative is designed to facilitate access for vocational learners into veterinary science at the University of Bristol. The Pre-Veterinary Year consists of studying Chemistry and Anatomical Science, with an additional choice of Physics or Biochemistry/Physiology, in the relevant departments in Bristol, with the aim of bringing students up to A-level standard in these subject areas. Satisfactory completion of course, examination and progression requirements will allow the student to progress directly onto the 5-year BVSc programme (D100) at the University of Bristol. GRADUATES AND CANDIDATES WITH A LEVEL BIOLOGY /CHEMISTRY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS COURSE.
Work experience is an important part of an application to this course. This may include veterinary practice, as well as farm, companion and exotic animal experience. A wide range of work placements will enable a student to experience the job a veterinary surgeon does, with all its ups and downs, and still feel committed to this tough, academic course and profession.
