Areas of expertise |
In terms of time period and location, my research is focused on the literatures of Wales and England from 1100 to 1500, including cultural and political relations between the two countries. Within those bounds, specific aspects of my research include urban writing, literature and politics, Arthurian literature, Celtic cultures, London literature (including Chaucer), prophecy, and manuscript history. A particular interest is the concept of borders and borderlands as cultural and geographic spaces. One of my aims is to retrieve the March of Wales as a distinctive region with its own history and literary culture.
