Summative Assessments
OSCE Assessment
OSCE stations with practical-based questions covering the learning outcomes from Dental Skills Year 2 and Primary Care Dentistry Year 2. Comprises the following subject areas: operative dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, applied dental materials, periodontology, the clinical environment, dental assisting and teamworking, pain and anxiety management, patient care as operator and communication skills.
Contributes 50% to the unit mark.
E-assessment
A knowledge assessment with questions covering the learning outcomes from Dental Skills Year 2 and Primary Care Dentistry Year 2. Comprises the following subject areas: operative dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, applied dental materials, periodontology, the clinical environment, dental assisting and teamworking, pain and anxiety management, patient care as operator and communication skills. Multi format e-based questions.
Contributes 50% to the unit mark.
There is no compensation between the OSCE and knowledge-based E-assessment. Therefore, students must pass both the e-assessment and OSCE.
Students failing either the e-assessment or the OSCE will be offered a second attempt to achieve a pass mark for the assessment they failed.
