Description including Unit Aims

Description: Mathematical and Data Modelling 2 is a group activity designed to help students to improve their ability to apply their mathematical knowledge to the solution of problems of academia, industry and business. Students will do four projects (4.5 weeks each) and present their project results in two group presentations

Aims: Learning how to apply mathematical modelling and data analysis in real-life problems, acquiring team-working skills, and practicing presentation skills.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit students will:

  1. Understand how to apply mathematical modelling and data analysis in real-life problems.
  2. Understand how a small group functions when jointly working on a problem.
  3. Improve presentation skills.

Teaching Information

Regular seminar-style meetings with project advisor.

Assessment Information

4 project reports each worth 20%, two assessed presentations each worth 10%
