The overall aim of this unit will be to enable students to gain further experience of research at a postgraduate level, under the supervision of a different member of staff to Rotation Project 1. This will be in the form of an individual research project based in a group, subject area or method relating to the intended PhD subject area. The research will be guided by the supervisor with regular meetings with the student to set goals and to show how research is managed.
To be able to:
Research in a laboratory and / or field environment plus associated reviews of literature, one to one meetings with supervisors to discuss data analysis etc.
There will be two assessment components: (1) to demonstrate the planning and execution of scientific research by continuous assessment (30%), and (2) to demonstrate the planning and executing scientific research, and of critically evaluating data and communicating findings, by writing a project report (70%).
