The external Student Selected Components (eSSC) placement is a period of time where students have the opportunity to “choose” what they do, who they work with and where they work. SSCs enable students to study a subject of particular interest to them in greater depth, to extend their studies to cover material outside the core undergraduate curriculum, to develop research skills and to facilitate individualised personal and professional development
The following Intended Leaning Outcomes are generic for all Student Selected Component units in the programme.
Students should:
Self directed learning with support from supervising academic.
There are two eSSCs in Year 2.
SSC1: Year 2 Group eSSC placement is assessed by the member of staff leading the group and a mark is given. (The University of Bristol 21 point mark scheme is not used for this eSSC and this eSSC does not contribute to the student’s ranking).
Year 2 Library Project. The University of Bristol 21 point scale is used for the library project eSSC. This project is marked by the supervising academic and a 2nd academic marker. (The Year 2 library SSC will contribute towards the ranking that is submitted for application to the Foundation Programme and will contribute to the ranking process used to decide merit or distinction degree specification).
