Description including Unit Aims

This unit concentrates on the religious and philosophical foundations of Indian and to a lesser extent Tibetan Mahyna Buddhism, with occasional references to its Sino-Japanese forms. Topics include Buddhism after the death of the Buddha, philosophical discussions of how things really are, the path to Buddhahood, the changing status of the Buddha and the growth of Buddhist devotionalism.
