The external Student Selected Component (eSSC) placement is a period of time where students have the opportunity to “choose” what they do, who they work with and where they work. SSCs enable students to study a subject of particular interest to them in greater depth, to extend their studies to cover material outside the core undergraduate curriculum, to develop research skills and to facilitate individualised personal and professional development.
The following Intended Leaning Outcomes are generic for all Student Selected Component units in the programme.
Students should:
Self directed learning with support from supervising academic.
These projects are marked by the supervisor and a second academic marker using the University of Bristol 21 point scoring system; the final mark is the average of the 2 scores given.
(The Year 4 external SSC will contribute to the ranking process that is used to decide who graduates from the MB ChB programme with merit or distinction.)
