The unit will cover: foundations of commercial law; contract structures; theoretical foundations; contractual interpretation; good faith; topics in the law of agency; personal property law; bailment; introduction to the sale of goods; problems in domestic sales I - passing of property and risk; problems in domestic sales II - retention of title; international sale of goods - cif and fob contracts; financing of international trade.
By the end of this unit a successful student will be able to:
20 lectures and 7 two-hour seminars
Formative assessment: students are required to do one, and may do two pieces of formative work
Summative assessment: the unit will be assessed by a 3 hour examination.
