This unit is designed for international students with English as a foreign language, who have met the University's minimum English language entry requirements for Engineering and wish to develop their competence in English for specific academic purposes.

Combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions based on Blackboard VLE involving practical task based work. This will focus on the development of the student as an idependent thinker, who can notice the features of a target text and apply this to work in their own field.
Formative assessment: Students will work to improve an initial lab report based on learning each week in class. (ILOs 1-4) (40%)
Submission of the final lab report (1000 words) (ILOs 1,2,3,4) 60%
