Much of British archaeology is organised through National bodies such as English Heritage and the National Trust or County Planning Departments and professional field units with local museums receiving the bulk of the resulting archives. Part of this Unit will examine how this system works and will include visits to selected institutions. Archaeology is also increasing involved with site management, conservation and education and the Unit examines the issues and debates surrounding these areas.
