During this module students will conduct a research-based project on a topic related to the field of translational cardiovascular medicine. The students can choose if they wish to do a laboratory based ‘wet’ research project or a ‘dry’ literature or data analysis project. This unit aims to teach students to design and conduct good quality research in the field of translational cardiovascular medicine. Candidates will be able to select a project topic offered from a range of potential projects. This module aims to introduce the student to research methods and presentation and topics will range from practical laboratory based projects to critical literature reviews.
Students successfully completing this module will be able to:
Short review essay (10%)
Critical literature review or laboratory based project contributing 70% to the module mark
Oral presentation/viva session contributing 20% to the module mark.
References will be relating to each one of the topics of the research projects that will be given and students will be guided to this via their individual specific project supervisors.
