Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides an introduction to object-oriented programming, assuming no prior exposure to the paradigm. The aim is to introduce objects and classes. Important principles include inheritance, abstraction, encapsulation, and polymorphism.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to understand and produce programs in an object-oriented programming language.

They should also be able to identify the key features of such languages.

Teaching Information

Lectures, supported by lab sessions.

Up to 4 hours per week: 2 hours of lectures, 2 hours labs.

100% coursework.
