Description including Unit Aims

The clerking portfolio is a must pass element of Finals.

The clerking portfolio, composed of anonymised final year patient clerkings, will be assessed by the academy in which the student undertakes their Senior Medicine and Surgery attachment. At the end of the unit there will be a system of initial marking with second marker oversight in the academy using a structured mark sheet. There will be separate pass marks for the written clerking portfolio and the oral discussion. The setting of each of these pass marks will be guided by an approved standard setting exercise such as the borderline regression method. To pass the clerking portfolio a student must achieve at least the pass mark for each component: the written and oral discussion.
