Description including Unit Aims

This unit focuses on the writing skills and micro-elements of formal writing required by students who wish to study at a British academic institution. They will be involved in a small-scale project which is aimed at activating the language and study skills required in the area of research and composition. Their project will be linked to their chosen ESP subjects and will be based on attended lectures and research. They will be required to write up their research involving introductions, literature reviews, methods and materials, and results, discussions and conclusions. They will learn how to use reference skills and IT skills for word-processing, e-mail and the internet.
