This is an element of Human Basis of Medicine unit (MEDI11110) and only relevant for MBChB students.

It appears in SITS and in the unit catalogue for administrative purposes only.

Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the unit students will have a raised awareness of the complexities of human behaviour and the diversity of people’s experiences in society.

Teaching Information

Teaching is provided by the School of Social and Community Medicine and comprises a mixture of: Lectures Small group tutorials Visits to primary care Follow-up presentations of experiences of meeting patients Clinical demonstrations Library-based project work.

Assessment Information

In course formative assessment is provided in the tutorials for Society, Health and Medicine and Ethics in Medicine. Attendance at these tutorials is compulsory. Paper 1 is short notes and an essay paper of which 60% relates to Society Health and Medicine (contributes 30% of the overall unit mark).
