Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides a Masters level unit on the structural analysis of aerospace composites

Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the unit the student will:

  • be able to identify and understand the major issues for the analysis of composite plate and shell structures;
  • be able to carry out conceptual design, initial sizing and preliminary FE modelling of basic structural components.

75% - 2 hour examination in May/June, 3 questions to be answered out of 5 25% - computer laboratory exercise
