This unit will help you to plan ahead to get the graduate job you want, developing your academic, career and professional skills. You will also learn about the skills and approaches needed for long term career management and maintaining your employability.
Successful completion of this module provides you with: Improved knowledge of the graduate labour market for computer scientists, Awareness of career planning techniques and reflective practice, essential for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Improved employability skills including: preparation of CVs, covering letters and application forms; interview techniques; presentation, report writing and teamwork skills; networking skills, Improved awareness of the skills you have to offer and how to make the most of employment opportunities, The ability to set effective personal goals and the motivation to achieve them.
The teaching sessions are practical and participative, including group exercises and student presentations. There are ten lectures, plus two-three weeks of assessment at the end of the unit.
