This Unit of Teaching will be offered as an Optional Unit as part of a modular distance learning programme. The programme will allow students to build Certificate and Diploma or Masters level qualifications by combining optional 20 credit units.
The Surgical Skills Unit is a single element unit with the following general aims: -
To provide the students with the underpinning knowledge and clinical skills to carry out minor oral surgical procedures including removal of roots and removal of impacted wisdom teeth
Students will obtain a knowledge and understanding of the following:
The student will acquire the skills and attributes necessary for:
Self directed CAL sessions
Seminars with videos
Clinical skills sessions
Reflecting writing
This Unit will have two summative assessments:
1. Written coursework assessment of 2,000 words (50%)
2. Final written (multiple short answer) examination of 2 hour’s duration (50%)
Formative assessment will include:
Feedback will be provided at the study days as small group tutorials and individual performance.
