The theme of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding for a selection of the core relationships that exist between organisations and their financial environments and to see how they can be explained, analysed and managed through the application of corporate financial theory and practice. The unit is concerned with the study of $why& and $how& organisations raise finance, how they should consider managing the deployment of those funds, including the decision to reinvest or distribute profits generated by firms and the relationship between business organisations and the financial markets. In addition, the course will look at the financing of projects on the international stage ranging from Joint Ventures to stand alone Build, Own, Operate and transfer (BOOT) and how these types of scheme should be approached from a company perspective.
