Description including Unit Aims
This unit will cover important topics in modern water engineering and the water industry, including water and wastewater treatment, water supply and distribution, water quality, and aspects of water management in both developed and developing countries. The assessment will include a review report, done in pairs, on a topic of the students' own choice, which allows each student to pursue their particular interests in more depth outside the classroom.
Aims:
To provide a structured introduction to the theory and practice of modern water engineering and management.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- A sound understanding of the main processes involved in managing water quality throughout the water cycle.
- An ability to design simple networks, treatment processes and management plans.
- A basic understanding of the complex interaction between water engineering and the wider water environment.
Teaching Information
Lectures 20 hours
Assessment Information
