Description including Unit Aims

The aims of the research project are to:

• Give the student guided experience in the planning and execution of projects/ literature searches.
• Enable the student to critically evaluate experimental data/ published papers.

Expose the student to the processes by which scientific data are communicated and debated.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students successfully completing this module will be able to:

• Undertake a literature search in their field of study within the area of oral pathology/ medicine.
• Design and undertake a project (either literature or laboratory based).

Critically analyse data and present findings.

• Self-directed study
• Discussion with project supervisor

Assessment Information

• Critical literature review or laboratory based project contributing 70% to the unit mark
• Presentation and viva session contributing 30% to the unit mark
