The lecture/seminar component of the unit will be identical to that studied by final year BSc Physiological Science students on the B120 programme. This offers a choice of four specialist topics from a choice of about eight, ranging from molecular to systems physiology, plus an element on $Concepts and Techniques&. Assessment of the specialist elements will be at a higher standard than for BSc students to reflect the extra research experience gained during the industrial placement year. The unit includes higher level training in planning research projects: students will initially review a pre-existing grant application and will subsequently research the background of an agreed topic and prepare a complete grant proposal in research council format.
