Description including Unit Aims

This unit allows students to write a dissertation of 6,000 words on a subject of their choice related to literature and community engagement, that has been agreed by the Unit Director. Students choosing to write a dissertation of this kind will meet regularly with an adviser for discussion of preparatory reading and research, work in progress, and drafts etc. Such a project will normally develop out of theoretical and practical issues explored in earlier literature and community engagement units.

Aims:

This unit aims to allow a student to undertake a project involving independent research, and to write a dissertation of 6,000 words on a subject of their choice (to be agreed with the Unit Director). The unit aims to allow a student to develop their research, writing, and reflective skills, and may be of particular interest to students wishing to consider postgraduate study or further work involving literature in the community.
