In recent decades the Christian church, particularly in the West, has seen a major shift in society's understandings of gender and sexuality and sexual morality. The church has struggled to know how to relate Scripture and Christian tradition faithfully to these developments and new understandings. This unit will centre around this central question of "How do we relate the vision of sexuality found in the Bible and Christian tradition to contemporary Christian discipleship and mission?" It will therefore offer an integrated exploration of changing societal and Christian attitudes and norms in relation to such areas as gender, singleness, marriage and cohabitation, divorce and same-sex relationships.
