The unit teaches the use of R for methods of analysis common in geographical study, including regression and elements of Geographical
Information Science. A key aim of the unit is to provide quantitative teaching suitable for dissertation work, developing skills in computer
programming, geographical data handling, mapping, statistical modelling, and in the presentation and interpretation of quantitative data.

A combination of lectures and directed practical work. Attendance at the practicals is compulsory; credit may be withheld for repeated absence.
Group project, which is assessed via a group presentation (40%) (ILOs 1-5)
The group project mark includes a peer review of the group project, which constitutes 20% of the group project mark (or 8% of the overall unit mark)
Two 2-hour exams at the end of Teaching Block 2. (30% each) (ILOs 1-5)
