The Black Humanities Option unit will allow Black Humanities MA students to tailor their programme of study to their own academic interests and aims. It invites student to choose from a selection of UG units offered in this growing field of study, ranging from History, English and History of Art to Modern Languages, Music and Film.
This unit will enable students to:
Identify a suitable topic for a small-scale independent research project arising from a taught unit of their choice.
On successful completion of this unit students will have:
Teaching will be delivered online through a combination of synchronous sessions and asynchronous activities, including seminars, lectures, and collaborative as well as self-directed learning opportunities supported by tutor consultation.
One 5,000 word essay (100%)
Conduct a small-scale independent study. Produce a 5,000 word essay that reflects an engagement with the unit of choice alongside the themes, issues and discourses that arise in the wider MA programme.
