Description including Unit Aims

120 Bristol Credits (or equivalent) at an appropriate level from a partner institution selected from ERASMUS partners, or other foreign partner institution with whom a University of Bristol bilateral educational agreement has been exchanged.

This 120 Credit unit will comprise a range of aeronautical engineering topics and related studies, negotiated on an individual basis, set out in a formal learning agreement, and approved by the home department.
This 120 Credit unit must cover a reasonable proportion (75%+) of each of the topics in the Bristol third year core units:
AENG 31101 - Aerodynamics (10)
AENG 31102 - Aircraft Propulsion (10)
AENG 31200 - Structures and Materials 3 (20)
AENG 31300 - Sensors, Signals and Control (20)
AENG 30009 - Aerospace Systems Engineering (10)
CENG 30004 - Professional Studies B (10)

Further the student must undertake the literature review part of AENG 30003 Individual Exploratory Project in preparation for AENG M0032 Final Year Research Project. The units taken during the overseas exchange placement must be at a level such that the student is as prepared as possible for the fourth year back at Bristol.
After these requirements are met, the student will undertake approved complementary studies, with a total workload equivalent to a full academic year at the host institution if possible (60 ECTS credits under ERASMUS, or equivalent)

Intended Learning Outcomes

1. Students will have gained 120 Bristol credit points (or approved equivalent) at an appropriate level. All key learning objectives laid out in the 3rd year core unit’s unit descriptions should be achieved. Note that those not achieved should be covered in the 4th year.

2. Students will have satisfied the departmental progression requirements to the 4th year.

3. Students will have developed their communication team working and learning skills while living as a student engineer in a foreign environment for a complete academic year.
