The pharmacology lectures, practicals, tutorials and CAL (computer assisted learning) sessions provide a scientific basis for treating patients with drugs relevant to dental practice, and for understanding the drugs that dental patients may be taking for non-dental reasons. The course stresses the general principles of drug action and interaction. On completion of the course, students should show knowledge of the topics listed below and their relevance to medicine. Students are expected to be able to illustrate pertinent points within each topic by reference to at least one example of a named drug, and to be able to describe how they work. TOPICS 1.
