This unit aims to help the student understand some of the ways in which the industry operates and to build confidence in the relevance of the course to practice, to develop a deeper understanding of current construction practice and the ideas and methods in use.
Aims:
To impart a practical understanding of the core issues involved in managing modern construction projects.
By the end of the course, successful students will;
1. have prepared a detailed business case and project plans (including Health and Safety) for a large construction project,
2. demonstrated advanced practical knowledge of teamwork, leadership, resource management and communication skills.
Teaching will be delivered through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions, which may include lectures, practical activities supported by drop-in sessions, problem sheets and self-directed exercises.
