Description including Unit Aims
This is a mandatory 10cp unit which forms part of the 180cp MRes in Advanced Composites. It will introduce the concept of smart materials, their properties, modelling and practical applications.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- Possess a fundamental knowledge of the range and capabilities of smart materials and have an understanding of their relationship and applications to composites materials
- Prepare, justify and communicate a research proposal based around smart materials.

Lectures and seminars.
Assessment Information
100% coursework. To include written report preparation, and individual oral presentation.
