Memory is central to human individuals and to human society. In the modern world, recovered memories of childhood are seen as the key to our identity and psychological health. Memories of the past are continually performed as history, theatre or autobiography, or are personal or collective memories. Themes will include: tyranny and the oppression of memory, monuments, performance of memory, monuments, mythologising historical events, and oral history.
