By the end of the unit students will have understood the relevance of ethical issues in medical practice.
Teaching is provided by the School of Social and Community Medicine and comprises a mixture of: Lectures Small group tutorials Visits to primary care Follow-up presentations of experiences of meeting patients Clinical demonstrations Library-based project work.
In course formative assessment is provided in the tutorials for Society, Health and Medicine and Ethics in Medicine. Attendance at these tutorials is compulsory. Paper 1 is short notes and an essay paper of which 40% relates to ethics and law in medicine (contributes 20% of the overall unit mark).
