Description including Unit Aims

In this unit students will write an extended report detailing research undertaken during their individual projects. The report will include a review of the relevant literature in the field, and will be written in a formal publication style format. The aim is to allow students to gain an appreciation of, and the skills necessary to prepare a formal research manuscript.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course students should:

• Be able to effectively place their research within the broader context of the existing literature.
• Be able to write a formal report detailing their research.
• Be able to provide a critical assessment of their research and identify future directions.
• Be able to produce a publication-ready document including figures, tables and diagrams.
