This unit builds on a fundamental knowledge of computer graphics to provide a detailed understanding of complex lighting simulation and animation techniques. Visual perception (3 lectures) - colour, textures and the Human Visual System. Realistic Rendering (7 lectures) - Radiosity: formulation, hemi-cube method, progressive refinement; Particle tracing: spectra, Monte Carlo methods, participating media. Animation (5 lectures) - keyframing, linear & spherical interpolation, forward & inverse kinematics, dynamics & particles, facial animation and morphing. High Dynamic Range Imaging (5 lectures) - capture, storage and display, tone mapping, image-based lighting.
