Description including Unit Aims

Contract law is a component of the modern law of obligations. Fundamentally, contract law is concerned with legally enforceable agreements. It determines how contracts are made; what legal consequences they have; and how they come to an end. Topics covered on this course include: agreement, consideration, promissory estoppel, misrepresentation, mistake, unfair terms, and frustration.

Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit a successful student will be able to:

• Demonstrate a detailed and accurate understanding of the rules of contract law;
• Apply the rules of contract law to complex and potentially uncertain situations;
• Understand, analyse and synthesise contract law cases;
• Evaluate and critique the rules of contract law;
• Present well-reasoned legal arguments clearly and persuasively.

1 x summative assessment: Timed Open Book Assessment with a specified word count (100%)
