This is a 20-credit unit within the International Foundation Programme which is aimed at students requiring standard, higher or advanced numeracy skills.
The unit aims to provide students with a strong mathematical foundation for further academic study, and to give students the appropriate mathematical skills, knowledge and understanding to help them progress to a range of courses in higher education.
The teaching and learning will cover the following content:
Number
Algebra
Ratio, proportion and rates of change
Geometry and measures
Probability
Statistics
By the end of the unit, students will be able to:
Students will attend 3 hours of study per week. Learning is facilitated in sessions involving a combination of teacher-led input, combined with practical, workshop-style exercises. On-line delivery of materials through Blackboard VLE.
