An introduction to the basics of Management Accounting and Financial Management, including costing principles, decision making, budgeting and investment appraisal. The course takes a practical approach and tries to show how theory can be applied in both traditional and modern business environments. Participants are encouraged to think through the business implications of the accounting data they generate.
The course should enable students to:

Formative:
Ten tutorial questions a sample of which (currently 5) are collected, marked and returned. These questions cover all ILOs and course topics.
Summative:
Three hour closed book examination in May/June, covering all unit material and ILOs. 60 marks compulsory through two questions; 40 marks by choosing two from three further questions.
