This unit comprises the year spent abroad by BSc students on the 4 year programme Economics and Politics. Students take the equivalent of 120 credit points with a partner institution abroad, where courses are taught in English.
The precise content of this unit will vary on an individual basis dependent on the host institution the student opts to study at.
The aim of the unit is to provide a student with an education in economics and/or politics at a leading institution outside the UK whilst also providing the cultural experience of living and studying in another country.
Specific learning outcomes will depend on the institution selected and the units studied. However, it is anticipated that students will also benefit from the following:

Assessment will clearly depend on the host institution and the units of study selected. Students will be expected to select units of study at a level equivalent to University of Bristol Level 5. The mark for this unit will be derived solely from the translation of the marks achieved at the host university via algorithms agreed by the University of Bristol.
The ‘Year Abroad Mark’ counts as 10% towards the final degree classification.
Students can weight their year abroad studies towards either economics or politics but would not then be allowed to weight the same way in their final year.
