This unit will provide students with the opportunity to study advanced foreign language skills in the context of their Erasmus visit to the University of Bristol.
Students who choose this unit option will be placed in an existing class in the School of Modern Languages, appropriate to their level at point of entry. It is expected that this will be in French, German, Spanish, Italian or Russian.
It is expected that students will be native speakers of the language concerned and will have spent some time studying English at their home university.

The level of the intended learning outcomes will be benchmarked against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as indicated in unit on which the student is simultaneously registered.
2 hours of translation and mediation classes
Students will complete relevant coursework assignments in the course of the term. Components will be weighted equally.
Coursework assignments completed during the term – Translation into English 50% - tests ILOs 2 and 3, Mediation 50% - tests ILOs 1 and 3.
Materials developed in house by the relevant Language Department. Reading and reference material will be provided on Blackboard.
