This is a compulsory 100cp unit and an integral part of a 180cp MRes in Advanced Composites. This unit comprises an extended individual project, which serves to prepare the students for their subsequent PhD project.
On successful completion of the unit, the students will be able to: - undertake an original research activity - plan and prepare a concise, written technical report in the format of an archive journal paper - orally present a technical subject, including handling questions and tailoring technical and specialist knowledge and information to a broader audience - adopt a high standard of record keeping and management of information.
Ongoing project supervision provided by project supervisor(s).
Report outline, final report, presentation and logbook.
Students are advised individually by their project supervisor(s) on appropriate references depending on their choice of project.
